GLASSTRESS. WHITE LIGHT / WHITE HEAT

In the past days i saw in Venice an amazing exibition.
It’s Glasstress. White Light / White Heat, a huge event beside the 55th Biennale in Venice, that involves artists from all over the world and it fascinates spectators with his extraordinary glass art works. Adriano Berengo, founder of the Berengo Studio and editor of the exposure with James Putnam, brings together 65 internationally known artists. Many of them utilezes glass, that is ductile and bright, for the first time, and they creates precious art-works. What they have realuxed is simply awesome. Rod Arad presents the masterpiece “Last Train”, to which is dedicated a whole room. It’s composed of a mechanic arm with a hand that wears a ring with a huge diamond and together they move creating drawings, cutting on the glass. But this is just one of the breath-taking marterpieces, in the exhibition, that hyonotizes me, also because they come from glass, born from fire, that from fluid comes to be solid, with a immense variaty of sapces, colours, transparencies and reflexes. The exhibition takes place in 3 areas: Palazzo Cavalli – Franchetti / Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arte (Campo S. Stefano), the Berengo Centre for Contemporary Art and Glass (Murano), the Grande Confraternita of San Teodoro School (San Marco).

Robert Motherwell

The main exhibition of the summer at Guggenheim Collection is dedicated entirely to what Robert Motherwell  defined “the greatest of our artistic discoveries”, the techinique of papier collè. The exhibition at Guggenheim Collection after Venice will travels overseas to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. It comprises about 50 works, mainly from private collections and made between 1941 and 1951. The works pay tribute not only to the abstract figures that made Motherwell the original spokesman for American art in the post-War years and one of the greatest interpreters of American abstract Expressionism, but also to Peggy Guggenheim, who was his patron and supporter. It was Peggy Motherwell to encourage him the use collage technique.

I’d like to warn you on a exhibition that soon wll be on in the Leonardo da Vinci’s Science and Technology Museum in Milan. It would surely be a spectacular event, because the main artist will be Stefa no Marangon, also know as “the sun painter” for his original technicque: ecliography. It’s a cutting made on wood by sun rays and special magnifying glasses. The exhibition will be an unusual trip to discover the use of the sun in science, philosophy and art, and there will be the possibility to participate to work-shop, and to realize experiments, and to understand the utility of sun energy, bit specially to experience Stefano Marangon special technicque and to partecipate to the creation of a artwork that will be donate to the Museum. It will absolutely be fabulous experience. In the meanwhile you can look at Stefano Marangon’s works of art right here.
