BRIDGET RILEY

Bridget Riley, born in London in 1931, was the first woman artist to win the International Prize for Painting when she represented Britain at the 34th Venice Biennale in 1968.

Static 2 (1969) is one of her paintings, among the most subtle, in which black oval spots are arranged in a grid drawn across a square white canvas.
