Ambrogio Lorenzetti on exhibition in Siena

AMBROGIO LORENZETTI ON EXHIBITION IN SIENA

Ambrogio Lorenzetti, even though is considered one of the most important European artists of the 14th-century, is still less-known to the public, especially as regards his paintings.
There isn’t even a modern and reliable scientific monograph dedicated to Ambrogio Lorenzetti!

The Santa Maria della Scala Museum Complex in Siena will host, from October 22nd 2017 to January 21st 2018, an exhibition entitled Ambrogio Lorenzetti, which will offer the chance to try to retrace his artistic production.

Ambrogio Lorenzetti on exhibition in Siena is the final stage of a project begun in 2015 aimed at knowing and keeping the works of the artist and allowing people to know him.

Besides, the initiative will take place in Siena because the city keeps around seventy percent of the known works by Lorenzetti, which can be compared with other works scattered around the world, thanks to the collaboration with prestigious museums such as The Louvre, the National Gallery, the Uffizi Gallery, the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, the Vatican Museums and the Yale University Art Gallery.
