WHERE TO EAT IN VENICE: A GUIDE TO THE BEST TYPICAL TAVERNS IN VENICE AND TO A MUSEUM WHICH OFFERS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

Where to eat in Venice. Finding the beauty in each place I visit means to me also losing myself in the cities I visit and discovering places and traditions typical of a territory. I’ve already done it when I went to the Liguria region, and I went in search of the historic shops in Genoa where I found authentic flavors and where I met some hospitable Genoeses.
In this post I’ll talk about a city I know very well, and I’ll suggest you some places where to eat in Venice and drink excellent Spritz (the typical Venetian aperitif).

Write down these addresses, because I’ll suggest you the 3 best places where to eat in Venice, and I will also explain how to take part in the most social party in Venice at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection!

If you really want to know the lagoon city of Venice, you must eat in Venice in a typical place and enter a bacaro, which is a tavern where you can drink wine or Spritz (Venetian aperitif) and eat a small snack (cichéto). I took a walk to find the best taverns and I made a tour which ended in a museum, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, which every summer opens its doors with a Venetian-style party.

A SPRITZ AT THE MUSEUM: HAPPYSPRITZ@GUGGENHEIM

Every year, in May and June, the doors of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection open to launch the most “social” event in lagoon, realized thanks to the collaboration between the museum and Aperol Spritz.
It’s the only Italian museum which arranges an event of this kind, whose ingredients are: art, music, Venice at sunset and a lot of young people meeting in a museum to have fun and admire masterpieces.

Everybody can take part in the event, but, pay attention: you must book your entrance ticket to avoid the risk of staying outside. The museum can’t exceed the maximum capacity, and this is a really cool event in Venice.
The entrance ticket is €13.
You can buy your ticket online on the website guggenheim-venice.it on the Wednesday before each Happyspritz evening (on the museum’s website you’ll find dates and opening hours, as well).

Info: Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni – Dorsoduro 701 – Venice
How to reach it: The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is located on the Grand Canal between the Accademia Bridge and the Church of Santa Maria della Salute
