Empire State. Arte a New York Oggi

“Empire State. Arte a New York Oggi” è la mostra allestita presso il Palazzo delle Esposizioni di Roma (fino al 21 luglio) che esplora il ruolo della città di New York intesa come “caput mundi”, esattamente come lo era Roma ai tempi dell’Impero romano.
New York, nella riflessione fatta dai curatori Sir Norman Rosenthal e da Alex Gartenfeld, è il luogo in cui confluiscono le maggiori esperienze artistiche, rendendola la città più eterogenea dal punto di vista delle esperienze artistiche, degli artisti e delle gallerie d’arte.
I 25 artisti in mostra tentano di interpretare la vita urbana newyorkese interrogandosi se la Grande Mela sia ancora la culla di elaborazione di nuove idee e di nuovi modelli espressivi. Gli artisti, tutti attivi a New York, provengono dai cinque distretti metropolitani della città e tra essi spiccano nomi come Jeff Koons, Julian Schnabel, Ryan Sullivan, John Miller. Le loro opere indagano sulle relazioni fra le diverse realtà urbane e l’individuo, senza dimenticare che lo spazio urbano è un mezzo di distribuzione del potere.

H. Quaytman, Tabor Robak, Julian Schnabel e Ryan Sullivan.

“Empire State. Arte a New York Oggi” is the new exhibition at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome (to the 21st of July) it explores the role of New York City as caput mundi (melting pot), just like Rome in the Ancient Roman Empire.
New York, in the thoughts of the editors Sir Norman Rosenthal and Alex Gartenfeld, is the place where the greatest artistical esxperiences merge together, making it the most heterogeneous city for artistical experiences, artists and art galleries.
The 25 artists in the exhibition have tried to understand the NYC’s urban life wondering if the Big Apple is still the place where new ideas and new way of expressions are processed. All the artists come from the 5 discricts of the city and some of them are really well known, as Jeff Koons, Julia Schnbel, Ryan Sullivan and John Miller. Their artworks inquire into the relationship between the different urban lifestyles and the individual, unforgetting that the city’s area is a way for spread the power.
