Design lamps: those which made history and are still modern

DESIGN LAMPS: THOSE WHICH MADE HISTORY AND ARE STILL PERFECT FOR A MODERN HOUSE

There are design lamps which made history but are still perfect for modern houses and I go crazy for useful objects which make life more beautiful with a dash of history of creativity.

In this post I’ll show you the most famous design lamps characterized by timeless style and one of those was part of my life for a long time.
Which one do you prefer?

PH Artichocke by Paul Hennningsen

PH Artichoke by Paul Hennningsen (1958) – when I look at this lamp the future comes to my mind. That’s because it was designed in the same year in which NASA launched its first artificial satellite into space, but this lamp is still current and perfect for lighting up a room with a light spreading out everywhere, just like a natural light.
The PH Artichoke was created for the Langelinie Pavilion, a restaurant in Copenhagen which is still using it, but is also part of the art collection of the MoMA of New York because its 72 “leaves” and its details make it a masterpiece.

The original PH Artichoke is manufactured by Louis Poulsen –> Louis Poulsen PH Artichoke Pendant Lamp

Arco Floor Lamp by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni (1962) – is probably the most sold floor lamp ever, but is certainly the most copied.
I’ve already written a post about the Arco lamp and the bright idea, still modern, which has made it such a design icon that is on display in the permanent collection at the MoMA and at the Triennale di Milano.
This lamp is still today an object of desire and is presently still in production, but beware of imitations.

The original Arco lamp is produced by Flos –> ARCO Lamp by Flos – LED

Tolomeo Lamp by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina (1986) – this is the design lamp which as soon as you place it on the table it has already furnished the room.
It was designed at the end of the 1980s, but has become an icon in a short time.
When I wasn’t a blogger and I had a desk job, this lamp, in grey version, was my faithful companion in many professional challenges.
I loved it immediately, because its structure allows infinite positions, and, in addition, it has many versions. I used it as a desk lamp but there are also wall, floor and pendant lamps in different size.
