THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF MODERN ART OF ROME: WORKS, OPENING TIMES AND TICKETS

The National Gallery of Modern Art of Rome, founded in 1883 to represent the national art of the newly unified Italian State, offers a wide array of artworks created between the late 19thcentury and the second half of the 20thcentury.

It’ s the only national museum in Italy, that is property of the Italian State, dedicated to modern and  contemporary art.

THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF MODERN ART OF ROME: WORKS AND ARTISTS

The National Gallery of Modern Art of Romewas founded to represent the art of the recent unification of Italy after centuries of divisions.
It was 1883 and the first small collection was housed in the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, and then, in 1913, was moved to the Fine Arts Pavilion (that it was planned for the Universal Exposition held in Rome in 1911).

Among the works on display you can admire masterpieces by Antonio Canova, Francesco Hayez and by the greatest French masters such as Rodin, Degas, Van Gogh, Monet, and also works of art by Duchamp, Man Ray, Pollock, Fontana and many more artists lived in the late 20thcentury.

THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF MODERN ART OF ROME: OPENING TIMES

The National Gallery of Modern Art of Rome is next to the large Villa Borghese gardensand not far from the famous Borghese Gallery.

Opening times: from Tuesday to Sunday: 8.30 am- 7.30 pm
Last admission 45 minutes before closing time.
Closed onMondays, December 25thand January 1st.

Tickets: full entrance ticket € 10, reduced ticket € 5.
