L’Illusione della luce è la mostra che fino alla fine del 2014 è allestita a Palazzo Grassi. Un’esposizione su un elemento impalpabile, capace di rendere visibile l’invisibile, di rivelare e svelare, ma che rende possibile anche illusioni e di essere così intensa da accecare e annullare il senso della vista. Proprio al piano terra del Palazzo e proprio all’inizio del percorso espositivo l’opera di Doug Wheeler mi ha permesso di sperimentare la luce come elemento straniante. L’intero atrio di Palazzo Grassi è occupato dalla luce, che crea un luogo indefinito e che sembra al di là del tempo e dello spazio. Tutti gli elementi percettivi sono annullati e mi sono ritrovata immersa tra reale e irreale, in un esperienza che mi ha incuriosita e allo stesso tempo mi ha messo a disagio.

L’Illusione della luce – Natura e artificio, definizione dello spazio, il sogno e la realtà, il giorno e la notte, il bianco abbagliante e l’oscurità, paura e felicità, luci e ombre, colore e tenebra – La prima opera di Doug Wheeler mi ha predisposta alla visita di una mostra incredibile, dove la luce assume molti significati per ogni artista coinvolto. Una mostra che mi ha provocata con i molti interrogativi sollevati dalle opere e sui molteplici ruoli della luce. Alla fine però sono uscita da Palazzo Grassi con la sensazione di aver compiuto un percorso personale. Questa mostra sarà diversa per ogni visitatore … non vi resta che vederla e di fare il vostro percorso.
