La National Gallery di Londra ha inaugurato da pochi giorni una mostra incredibile, dedicata a Van Gogh e ai suoi Girasoli. E’ una mostra che offre ai visitatori l’opportunità unica di assistere alla visione e al confronto di due dipinti simbolici come “I Girasoli” di Vincent van Gogh.

The National Gallery in London opened an exhibition dedicated to the amazing Van Gogh and his sunflowers. The Sunflowers is an exhibition that offers visitors the unique opportunity to witness the reunion of two of Vincent van Gogh’s iconic ‘Sunflower’ paintings – shown together in London.

I dipinti, uno di proprietà della National Gallery, l’altra dal Museo Van Gogh di Amsterdam sono due delle cinque versioni de “I Girasoli” sparsi in tutto il mondo ( gli altri attualmente si trovano a Tokyo , Monaco e Philadelphia). Le due opere d’arte risalgono al 1888, quando Van Gogh lasciò Parigi per dipingere nel Sud della Francia, invitando Paul Gauguin ad unirsi a lui. In attesa dell’arrivo di Gauguin, Van Gogh dipinse una serie di immagini di girasoli per decorare la camera da letto del suo amico. Questa mostra è anche l’occasione per conoscere i nuovi studi e approfondimenti su come Van Gogh dipinse i suoi Girasoli e su quali materiali ha usato.

The paintings, one owned by the National Gallery, the other by the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam two of the five versions of ‘Sunflowers’ that are now spread around the world (the others currently residing in Tokyo, Munich and Philadelphia). The two artworks dates from 1888, when Van Gogh left Paris to paint in South of France, inviting Paul Gauguin to join him. Waiting for Gauguin to arrive, Van Gogh painted a series of pictures of sunflowers to decorate his friend’s bedroom. This exhibition is also an opportunity to know the new studies and insights into how Van Gogh painted his ‘Sunflowers’ and what materials he used.
