Museums in Florence, how many they are!
They are several and spending few days in Florence is not enough to see all the masterpieces housed in the Florentine museums.
The little-known museums are usually those which surprise you more, and it seems impossible that there are even more fascinating museums than the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery, the Medici Chapels and the Pitti Palace.
But there are and are well worth a visit.

1. SALVATORE FERRAGAMO MUSEUM

This museum is dedicated to the famous fashion designer Salvatore Ferragamo, who played a fundamental role in the history of shoe design and international fashion.
In addition to the permanent collection illustrating the history of the brand, the museum organizes exhibitions and temporary events.

2. GUCCI MUSEUM

The museum is located in the ancient Palazzo della Mercanzia and is devoted to the fashion house founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci.
It houses temporary exhibitions, historical collections, shops and the Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura, a restaurant by three-Michelin-star chef.

3. OFFICINA PROFUMO-FARMACEUTICA DI SANTA MARIA NOVELLA (OLD PHARMACY OF SANTA MARIA NOVELLA)

It’s the oldest historical pharmacy in Europe, founded in 1221 by Dominican friars.
The Pharmacy has been in business for almost 4 centuries, and is one of the most ancient shops ever, where still today products are prepared following ancient recipes and where you can visit a museum displaying ancient instruments.

4. HORNE MUSEUM

In 1911 Herbert Percy Horne, an English architect and collector, bought Palazzo Corsi and decided to transform it into a Renaissance dwelling.
His aim was to house his precious collection of paintings, drawings, prints, books and furniture pieces dating from the 13thcentury to the 17thcentury.
In this museum you can admire the famous painting “St. Stephen” by Giotto and works by Simone Martini, Masaccio, Filippino Lippi.

5. STIBBERT MUSEUM

Established by Frederick Stibbert (1838-1906), a collector who lived Florence, in the villa which was his house.
In this museum you can admire around 50,000 objects including weapons, suits ofarmour, paintings, costumes, furniture pieces and paintings dating from the 16thcentury to the 19thcentury.

6. STEFANO BARDINI MUSEUM

The museum was donated to the city of Florence in 1922 by the art dealer Stefano Bardini, who throughout his life built a large collection of artworks.
The museums displays this huge collection including sculptures, objects and paintings of different periods up to the 18thcentury, but also paintings by Donatello, Antonio del Pollaiolo, Tintoretto and Guercino and majolica pieces by Andrea della Robbia.
