What to do in Brussels in one day ?
When I visited the city I had exactly 24 hours at my disposal, and if there’s one thing I understood is that, with little time at your disposal, you need to make a plan in order not to miss the most important things.
Because Brussels has a lot to offer, and when you walk along its streets and quarters it’s easy to be captivated by museums artworks or the beauty of a garden and stay too long, missing out on the opportunity to admire other areas of the city.
In this post you’ll find my tips, based on my personal experience, to discover Brussels in one day, which has a lot of stories to tell.

BRUSSELS IN ONE DAY: ATOMIUM
The building symbol of Brussels is the Atomium, an imposing steel structure which represents an iron unit cell (9 iron atoms).
Built for the Brussels World’s Fair of 1958 (Expo 58), it had to be a temporary construction but, like it happened to the Eiffel Tower, it was decided to leave the Atomium where it was located, inside Heysel Park.
The structure is beautiful to see as well to visit, in fact you can go up and enter the spheres where the story of the Atomium is told, and where exhibitions and events dedicated to science take place. From the sphere located on the top, instead, you’ll enjoy a view over the city of Brussels.
The Atomium is one of Brussels’ most visited buildings and you’d better book in advance to enter. Booking your ticket allows you to skip the line and start immediately the tour without losing time.

BRUSSELS IN ONE DAY WITH A 2-HOUR WALKING TOUR
Brussels can be easily visited on foot, and for this reason there are tours designed specifically to explore the city in an easy way and, in some cases, for free.
The most beautiful tour?
It’s probably that from the Grand Place, one the city’s most famous places, which will accompany you through the historic streets up to the well-known Manneken Pis, the small sculpture with a fascinating history and often dressed in tailored costumes.
This kind of tour is useful for discovering the city in few hours, because Brussels has a lot to offer. In fact, it is not only the capital city of Belgium, the seat of the European Parliament, the place where you can have the world’s most famous beers, but is also the capital of the comic strips!
BRUSSELS IN ONE DAY: BELVUE MUSEUM
The last stop to visit Brussels in one day is the BELvue Museum, illustrating the history of Belgium in an original way.
From chips to chocolate and beer, Belgium is full of history and stories that are worth knowing.
The BELvue Museum is the right place to discover curious facts about this Country, through more than 200 objects and works on display along the museum tour.
In addition, the museum organizes many temporary exhibitions on a rotating basis illustrating what place Belgium holds in history.
