An event that has been awaited and dreamed of for many years and now it is here!
Enrico Caruso’s museum house in Naples, the place where the famous tenor lived the first years of his life, opens to the public.

This little ‘secular miracle’ has sprung from the passion of three Neapolitans in love with their land and Caruso, who masterfully embodies its noblest and deepest matrixes. Thus, Armando Jossa, Raffaele Reale and Gaetano Bonelli, found themselves, certainly not by chance, sharing a project made up of beauty, culture and a great desire for redemption.

The redemption of a district, wrongly neglected, which, with the inauguration of the Enrico Caruso House Museum, will gain the international limelight it deserves. Thus, albeit with an unjustifiable delay, Naples too will remember one of its most illustrious sons in an imperishable manner, in a place of great symbolic value.
This teamwork has benefited from the precious and decisive contribution of the Caruso family, Caruso historian Guido D’Onofrio and Comm. Aldo Mancusi, who, following up on an old dream of his, intended to donate to the House Museum several exhibits from the Enrico Caruso Museum of America di Brooklyn.

Thanks to the mediation of Guido D’Onofrio, a true historical memory of the tenor, who has always been the creator of initiatives aimed at promoting his art and memory, and who has a strong relationship of friendship and esteem with Aldo Mancusi, it has been possible to benefit from the exhibits coming from the Brooklyn Museum. Thanks to this generous contribution, in the House Museum it will be possible, among other things, to admire testimonies that belonged to the legendary Caruso, such as photographs, letters, caricatures, records, playbills and programmes, a gramophone from the early 1900s, and some memorabilia, including his walking stick and linen bearing the elegant embroidery of his initials.

It should also be noted that the Casa del Tenore is enriched by the Caruso Museum at the Royal Palace in Naples, which helps to tell the story of this great tenor in his hometown even more comprehensively.

FUTURE PLANS FOR THE ENRICO CARUSO HOUSE MUSEUM IN NAPLES

The redevelopment and restoration project will continue following the inauguration of the museum, and will end on 25 February 2023, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Enrico Caruso’s birth.
Next objectives: the restoration of the façade and the opening of a literary café.

Now at last, Caruso fans will find in the house where the incomparable tenor was born, the place where this extraordinary story began, the story of a myth that conquered the world from San Giovanniello.

  1. Finalmente !!
