Contemporary art: exhibitions to see in galleries in February 2026
February is the shortest month of the year, but gallery exhibitions are certainly not deterred by the calendar.
If you’re in the mood for art that shakes you up, excites you and perhaps takes you out of your comfort zone, then these 5 openings are just the thing for you.
The selection is not a ranking, nor is it a definitive map of Italian contemporary art.
It is a curious look at what is happening in Milan, Venice and other cities, where artists and gallery owners open their doors to new visions, exposed bodies, suspended words, identities that fall apart or are recomposed.
In every exhibition, there is a question waiting to be answered.
So, if you too are in need of wonder, beauty and living matter, here are five excellent reasons to visit a gallery in February.
