Beauty according to Mucha on display in Rome
There are exhibitions that make you fall in love at first sight and others that make you want to live inside a poster. The Alphonse Mucha exhibition at Palazzo Bonaparte does both.
From 8 October 2025 to 8 March 2026, Rome will be transformed into the enchanted realm of Art Nouveau.
This is not just a figure of speech: as soon as you set foot inside the halls of Palazzo Bonaparte, you enter a world where every detail – from flowers to scents, colours to music – takes you on a journey into beauty. And there is a reason why the exhibition is entitled “A triumph of beauty and seduction”.

Alphonse Mucha, Reverie, 1897
Mucha and the beauty of Art Nouveau on display
This exhibition, the largest ever dedicated in Italy to the Czech master Alphonse Mucha, features over 150 works from the Mucha Museum in Prague: theatre posters, decorative panels, calendars, illustrations, as well as objects, furnishings and jewellery in perfect Art Nouveau style.
Everything speaks of femininity, not in the stereotypical sense of the term, but as a magnetic force, creative spirit and symbol of grace that spans the centuries. It is no coincidence that Mucha was able to transform the image of women into a universal icon, still loved today by designers, illustrators and tattoo artists around the world.
Mucha’s women, with their flowing hair, light dresses and floral compositions, are a perfect synthesis of dreams and power. The beauty of it is that, when you look at them, they seem close, almost familiar. Even though they were created more than a century ago.
An exhibition with a guest of honour: Venus
Yes, you read that correctly. Among the protagonists of the exhibition is Botticelli’s Venus, not the one in the Uffizi, but the work housed in the Royal Museums of Turin and loaned exceptionally for this exhibition.
A surprising dialogue between the Renaissance and Art Nouveau, between two different yet complementary visions of ideal beauty. An encounter between two eras that reminds us how art, when it speaks to human sensibility, is ageless.
It is not just a question of aesthetics. This exhibition takes you on a true sensory experience: immersive environments, carefully designed lighting, enveloping music. It is a leap back in time, but also a reflection on the present. Because the seductive power of Mucha’s images continues to speak to us today, in advertising posters, visual design, fashion and graphics.

Why visit the exhibition
This exhibition is not only a celebration of Art Nouveau, but also a tribute to what has always enchanted us: beauty.
This exhibition is a tribute to the female figure in art and a gift to the public.
If all this were not enough, Palazzo Bonaparte never misses a beat: after Monet, Van Gogh, Munch and Escher, it is hosting another memorable event, and I can tell you that 2026 will be an even more explosive year, with exhibitions dedicated to Hokusai and Kandinsky. In the meantime, Mucha awaits you.
