Amo gli Impressionisti, ma scoprire un grande pittore impressionista americano e non francese è stata una rivelazione per me. Mi riferisco a Frederick Childe Hassam (1859 – 1935).

 
I love the Impressionists, but discover a great American Impressionist painter and French was a revelation for me. I am referring to Frederick Childe Hassam (1859-1935).

E’ stato un pittore impressionista americano. Ha dipinto scene di genere, ritratti, interni, paesaggi innevati, marine assolate e nature morte. Agli inizi dell sua carriera la sua attività principale era quella di intagliatore, illustratore e pittore d’acquarello. Tuttavia, completò la sua formazione a Parigi tra il 1886 e il 1889, dove venne influenzato dale opere e dalle tecniche degli Impressionisti. Tornato negli Stati Uniti iniziò a eseguire opere che ritraevano le strade di New York e vari altri soggetti di altre città americane. Hassam è famoso per “Bandiere sotto la pioggia”, opera che fa parte della collezione della Casa Bianca ed è conservata nello Studio Ovale del Presidente degli Stati Uniti.

It was an American Impressionist painter. He painted genre scenes, portraits, interiors, snowy landscapes, seascapes and still lifes sunny. At the beginning of his career his main activity was to engraver, illustrator and painter of watercolors. However, he completed his training in Paris between 1886 and 1889, where he was influenced dale works and techniques of the Impressionists. Back in the United States began to perform works that portrayed the streets of New York and various other subjects of other American cities. Hassam is famous for “Flags in the rain“, a work that is part of the collection of the White House, and is kept in the Oval Office of the President of the United States.
