The Republic of San Marino presents itself at the Venice Art Biennale 2024 with a project that requires us to reflect on cultural nomadism, thanks to the works of Eddie Martinez.

At the Fucina del Futuro, in Venice, the artist presents a new series of works conceived specifically for this event, underscoring the Republic of San Marino’s commitment to promoting contemporary art.

EDDIE MARTINEZ AND THE THEME OF NOMADISM

Eddie Martinez is an American artist with a nomadic background who perfectly embodies the theme “Strangers Everywhere” proposed by Adriano Pedrosa, curator of the Art Biennale 2024.

Martinez’s works convey a sense of continuous movement, research and exploration through different techniques and media. The artist has been able to transform his nomadic life experience into a source of inspiration for his art, mixing abstract figurative elements into a distinctive and ever-evolving visual language.

The choice of Edy Martinez, as the representative of the Pavilion of San Marino at the 2024 Art Biennale, reflects the vision of the oldest Republic in the world, which sees art as a means to connect the past, present and future.
The intent is thus to promote an artistic dialogue that transcends borders and eras.

THE IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE OF THE SAN MARINO PAVILION

The exhibition project promises to offer an immersive experience where visitors can get up close and personal with the artist’s creative process. Through a series of drawings, bronze sculptures and paintings, Martinez explores the themes of nomadism and identity, inviting the audience to reflect on the transitory nature of human existence and the transformative power of art.

“Nomader” is not just an exhibition, but an invitation to travel through the stories, cultures, and visions that define our world.

The San Marino Pavilion is designed and realised by FR Istituto d’Arte Contemporanea S.p.a., a San Marino company headed by Roberto Felicetti, Vincenzo Rotondo and Alessandro Bianchini, with the support of the Secretary of State for Education and Culture and the supervision of Commissioner Paolo Rondelli and Deputy Commissioner Riccardo Varini.
