Frida Kahlo arrives in Agrigento. Photos by Leo Matiz.

Frida’s passion. The photographic exhibition entitled Frida’s passion (until March 20th 2016) shows about 20 photos of Frida Kahlo taken by the Colombian photographer Leo Matiz, one of the most important photographer in the 20th century. He met Frida in Mexico City in 1940s, when the Country was going through revolutions and wars, but also through joy and hope.

Frida’s passion emphasizes the woman behind the artist, the woman who thanks to her personality and her determination, faced terrible pain caused by a horrible accident she survived when she was only a teenager, and her great passion for Diego Rivera, the other great Mexican artist.

Frida Kahlo was a woman who lived all her passions to the fullest. I wrote a special post about Frida’s troubled love story with Diego Rivera. But this exhibition and Leo Matiz’s gaze focus on Frida’s mood.
The exhibition is on view at the Fam Gallery, a new exhibition area near the Fabbriche Chiaramonte, in the centre of Agrigento. This event follows the great retrospective dedicated to Frida arranged last year in Rome (at the Scuderie del Quirinale) and in Genoa (at the Palazzo Ducale-Doge’s Palace).
