Naples is practically an open-air museum, and it’s not easy to make a list of the museums in Naples to visit, but there are some places you should enter at least once in your lifetime.
So, here are some useful tips for those who visit the city for the first time or those who come back to Naples and want to know which the must-visit museums are.

MANN – National Archaeological Museum
Among the first museums in Naples to visit there’s certainly the MANN, which displays Roman antiquities from the Farnese collection, remains from the Vesuvian area from the Bourbon collections and a collection of Egyptian artifacts.
The Museum is located inside the 16th-century Palazzo degli Studi and is considered one of the most important archaeological museums in the world.

Capodimonte Museum
The other great museum to visit in Naples is the Capodimonte Museum which, inside the former residence of the Bourbons, the sovereigns of the Kingdom of Naples and Sicily, houses works by Raphael, Titian, Parmigianino, the “Flagellation of Christ” by Caravaggio and many other masterpieces.
This is a must-visit museum, even though you have little time at your disposal. You can’t miss it even though you visit Naples in one day!

Royal Palace
Among the museums in Naples to visit the Royal Palace can’t be missing.
It’s one of the residences used by the House of Bourbon, overlooking the Vesuvius on the Gulf of Naples.
The palace was built in the 17th century and with its gardens is one of the places in Naples you can’t miss.

National Museum of San Martino
On Vomero hill and inside the homonymous charterhouse, is the National Museum of San Martino which illustrates the history of Naples when it was the capital of the Kingdom of Naples and Sicily.
