Robert Capa in Italy

ROBERT CAPA IN ITALY 1943-1944

Robert Capa in Italy 1943-1944 is the exhibition which displays the photos of the father of photojournalism.

His life was intense as I told you in the post dedicated to the beginning of Robert Capa’s career and his love story with another great photographer, Gerda Taro.

The photos come from the series “Robert Capa Master Section III” held in Budapest and purchased by the Hungarian National Museum between the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009.
Some of these photos have already been exhibited in Italy (I talked about it on the occasion of the exhibition Robert Capa on view in San Giminiano), but every time there are unknown aspects emerging from these shots.

Robert Capa was a great photographer and the co-founder of the Magnum Agency. With his language he gave a new direction to photography and he lived most of his life on the battlefield, by reporting the five major world conflicts: the Spanish Civil War, the Chinese resistance to Japanese invasion, the World War II, the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, and the First Indochina War.
