THE TEMPLE OF DENDUR

Among the works of art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York (MET) 35,000 items are from Egypt and its thousand-year history.
You can’t miss the Temple of Dendur, which was removed from its original placement when the Aswan Dam was built to be rebuilt in a room at the MET and surrounded by a basin full of water.

PORTRAIT OF MADAME X BY JOHN SINGER SARGENT

In 1884 Sargent painted the portrait of Virginie Amélie Avegno and exhibited the painting at the Paris Salon. The work was immediately removed because a shoulder strap fell along the arm.
The artist remedied by modifying the position of the strap and changing the title to Madame X, to delete any reference to the woman.

WHEAT FIELD WITH CYPRESSES BY VAN GOGH

Among the works of art to see at the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York (MET) one of the three copies of “Wheat Field with Cypresses” by van Gogh which portrays the country of the southern France can’t be missing.
