EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO FRANCIS BACON: FRANCIS BACON. I CONFINI DELLA MENTE (FRANCIS BACON. THE BOUNDARIES OF THE MIND)
Francis Bacon in Treviso. Among the most controversial artists of the 20th century who personify the stereotype of the damned artist, Francis Bacon holds a place of honour.
From October 15th 2016 to May 1st 2017, the exhibition Francis Bacon. I confini della mente (Francis Bacon. The boundaries of the mind) will analyze Bacon’s life and his artistic experience, through a tour showing his less-known Italian works.
The exhibition dedicated to Francis Bacon in Treviso is arranged by Kornice, which has brought to Europe also the exhibition The Maya, language of beauty, of which I’m giving you all the updates in the post I dedicated to it.
The project of the exhibition
Francis Bacon, son of the 20th century and its sufferings, created works that can be interpreted thanks to psychoanalysis, philosophy and psychology.
For this reason, the organizers of the exhibition worked together with the Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna, building up a tour that is a journey through the mind and its borders.
The exhibition will examine in depth some themes typical of the artist: crucifixions, Popes, portraits, and self-portraits, through a choice of works coming from the Francis Bacon Foundation of the Drawings Donated to Cristiano Lovatelli Rovarino.
Therefore, in Treviso you’ll admire works that drew their inspiration from masterpieces by the masters of the past, from Leonardo da Vinci to Velasquez, from Guercino to Picasso, but also from the photographic techniques.
Francis Bacon’s works owe Eadweard Muybridge, pioneer of photography, and his study on images a lot.
