Lo stemma dei Visconti è il Biscione di Milano
Il Biscione di Milano. Il simbolo della città di Milano è il biscione che tiene in bocca un bambino in bocca, che per secoli è stato il simbolo della famiglia Visconti.

La leggenda narra che nell’anno 1100 Ottone Visconti guidava un esercito di Milanesi nell’assedio di Gerusalemme durante la seconda Crociata e che affrontò in duello il feroce saraceno Voluce, che combatteva portando con sè il simbolo di un serpente che divorava un uomo.
Ottone colpendo a morte Voluce, prende le sue armi e il suo simbolo, portandoli a Milano e decidendo di usare l’immagine che usava in battaglia il suo nemico.
Così nacque lo stemma dei Visconti, ovvero il Biscione di Milano.
L’uomo inghiottito dal serpente fu sostituito con un saraceno rosso, che successivamente diventò un bambino, per indicare la bontà del serpente della famiglia Visconti.
Altre leggende raccontano l’origine del Biscione di Milano, ma questa è quella che preferisco ed a cui penso ogni volta che vedo lo Stemma Visconti in qualche angolo della città.

This was a symbol used in the catacombs in Rome by early Christians. It symbolised Jonah coming out of the mouth of a sea serpent. This was symbolic of Jesus rising after 3 days.
